Academic Plan
To successfully complete my degree I would like to change my degree program from Geography to a General Arts degree. I will be required to raise my GPA. I currently have enough credits completed for a general BA however, due to my academic issues, my GPA is too low to graduate. If given the opportunity to return to studies, I intend to enroll as a part time student. As a part time student I would take between one and three courses per semester. I have confirmed with my employer that, if given the opportunity to return to studies, I would reduce my working hours to an appropriate amount to allow for a successful completion of my degree. Furthermore, I am well situated financially to be successful in this endeavor without the financial constraints faced during my time as a student. With a reduced course load, I believe I have the skills required to be successful in the courses I would be selecting. Through building time management skills in a high pressure work environment over the past three years, I am confident that academic deadlines will not illicit the anxiety that I had experienced in the past. Moreover, with open dialogue between myself and my support network about my mental health challenges, I feel comfortable seeking help when help is required in order to ensure that my education does not suffer the neglect that it had in the past.
To raise my GPA I intend to take online courses that suite my strengths and interests. I have always enjoyed learning and am steadfast in consuming as much knowledge as possible. I am exited by the prospect of proving my passion for learning by taking courses in history, politics and human geography. These are areas of academia that I have enjoyed immensely and believe I can be successful in.
