Petition Letter
Hello there
I am currently writing this appeal letter in regards to dropping the fall course, ECON 360, based on the fact that extenuating circumstances have affected my ability to succeed and really focus on this class, preventing me from my full potential. I have recently been diagnosed with anxiety that tends to heighten when I have too much pressure from class work loads. I currently have 5 courses during the Fall semester and had the pressure of taking 4 midterms within 48 hours, and this class with constant assignments taking place each week peaking my anxiety levels. I went to visit my doctor about this and it was recommended that I drop a class that is pushing this anxiety. I attempted to login to my SOLUS account on November 4th in order to drop the course, however, by the time I had clicked on the drop button, it was a few minutes after 12am (12:05 am), and wouldn't let me drop it. Only being a couple minutes behind trying to drop it shows that this is something that has been attempted before, but has really prevented me from sucessfulling dropping this course. It has been causing me nothing but stress and afftecting my mentally. My anxiety has been an issue in the past on a much smaller scale and has recently peaked with this excess amount of school work preventing me from really focusing on each class and workload, and will unfortunately continue into finals unless I act upon this recommendation. This appeal will allow me to drop ECON 360, lighten my studying and allow me to really focus on my other courses and decrease my anxiety.
My doctor, Dr. Ashe, from Brockville On. is in the process of sending me a letter of confirmation for this mental illness and can be brought in. His phone number is (613)-345-1458, and can be contacted if necessary. This letter can and will be sent in tomorrow (December 6th to confirm) - however, I am sending this now as soon as I can to make sure it is brought to your attention. Thank you
