Petition Letter
This semester, for the majority of the first week of class I was attending Queen's Model Parliament in Ottawa, so was unable to sort my classes until Week 2. I tried to switch into GEOL 342 from GEOL 106 last Thursday afternoon, and needed special permission from the Department of Geology Undergraduate Assistant. However, she was on vacation and could not give me permission. Within the timeframe between Thursday and Friday, I contacted the head of my department, contacted other members of the Department of Geology, visited an Academic Advisor (Joyce) and emailed the Professor, who all said I would need the Undergraduate Assistant to give me permission. The Professor however gave me his permission to join the course on Friday (before the deadline to enrol). I have been attending the GEOL 342 class, and have caught up with notes from other students in the class. I have not been attending GEOL 106, as after the meeting with the Academic Advisor, she was confident I would be able to enrol in GEOL 342.
As a side note, there was a 50.00 fee with this application. It does not seem like much, but I am a student paying for my education, and did all I could before last Friday (the deadline to enrol) to join the course. However, as the only person who could give me access to the course was on vacation, I do not believe there was anyway I could have figured this out last week and would like for you to consider reimbursing the 50.00 fee.
