Academic Plan
My academic goal is to develop brain-computer interfaces to help those that are motor-disabled, unable to speak, and unable to carry out volitional actions. Specifically, I am interested in creating imagined-speech decoding brain-computer interfaces to help these individuals retain a sense of involvement in the world around them by granting them an alternative method to communication.
I intend to do the above in my Master's. After which I will pursue a PhD and a post-doctoral degree attempting to perfect the technology and hopefully emerge it into the commercial scene where it can become widely available patients world-wide.
In order to do this, NSCI 850 will help burgeon the necessary programming skills and a computational mindset that will be critical to my success in aiding these patients.
