Petition Letter
To Whom It May Concern,
I am writing this appeal for three reasons:
1. Addition of courses past due date (MATH 112 and CISC 235)
2. Aegrotat standing for BIO 102
3. CR for CISC 124
To address point 1, I was initially in both MATH 112 and CISC 235 however I dropped the courses on January, 21st. I soon realized this was a mistake, and have since gotten confirmation from both my professors and the department head that its okay to be added back into the courses. For the future I plan to get a tutor so that I can better understand the course material and not get overwhelmed. I¿¿m also opting to do two courses instead of three, so that should hopefully be more manageable.
For the second and third point, I was in Kingston General Hospital from November 2016 to December 2016 and as a result was not able to attend lectures or work on any school work. I would like to opt to do an aegrotat standing in BIOL 102 (or drop the course if I¿¿m unable to get aegrotat standing) since when I returned to studies in January I chose to only write 2 exams as that was the most I could do. On one of the exams that I wrote in January (CISC 124) I was not very happy with the grade, I got a 61 on the exam which severely impacted my mark. I feel that my performance was still hindered from my time in hospital and as a result, I¿¿d like to ask for a CR instead of the C+ I have on my transcript currently.
For reference the hospital stay was mental health related, and as a result its been very limiting to my cognitive abilities. I¿¿m feeling much better now however am not back at 100 which is why I¿¿ll only be taking 2 courses. Since I¿¿m on disability (for lymphatic edema) this should also clear up my full-time student status.
Best regards,
Andrei Lyskov
