Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean,
My name is Di Si Lin and my student number is 10195521. I am appealing to drop GEOL 102 late(Fall, 2016) and seeking credit standing in GND 215(Fall, 2016). I tried hard in the course and reviewed the notes I took in class, but I failed the GEOL 102 at the end of the semester because I was having a lot of pressure from my mark. During the time of midterms, I was having a fever and it took a whole week to recover. But I try hard on my assignments and tried to get my mark back up. Same as exam weeks. Moreover, mainly because I am an essay student and my other courses were all mostly essay composed, I struggled with the course content and requirements. Also, for the online course GND 215, I was having a trouble to open my quiz.
In fact, I was also having some mental health issues that appeared in my life. Therefore, I couldn't focus when I was studying and couldn't sleep well because there were a lot of events that kept coming up and that is really perplexing my life. I was struggling about my GPA when I was doing my work, the main pressure from that is if I didn't do well I will be kicked out off school. Also, there is another main pressure for me that is deeply mine, I don't want to let my parents feel disappointed to me because I haven't disappointed before them. I want to be that perfect girl inside of my parents. I was having insomnia, depression and anxiety disorder. I haven't had that experience before I entered my second year here. The first year wasn't going well too but I trying do not to put it into my heart.
University is a new life to me, and I am having many challenges. I was very much looking forward to my university life because it is the first time that I moved to another city without and away from my parents; me living by myself. First I was very excited, but the longer I lived in Kingston, the more I found that I was wasn't into meeting new people and making new friends, but rather I prefer to stay in my residence.
In the future, I will be taking a lighter course code that is in my control area. Also, I will watch out for the deadline/drop dates carefully. I will keep seeing my academic counselor- Spring, and she will keep me on the right track.
