Petition Letter
Dear Sir or Madam,
This is Yi Zhang, a third-year undergraduate student at Queen¿¿s University. I had inguinal hernias since the beginning of this year, when I was in China to spend my winter vacation with my family. Since it was not serious at that time, and to avoid late returning to school, I did not choose to take the surgery but wearing hernia band for few months. However, I started to feel more painful last month and sometimes it was painful enough to stop me attending class or going to the tutorial or the library. It severely affected my life and school performance. My uncle took me to the hospital in Toronto last week and the doctor gave me herniorrhaphy at March 6. From what the doctor told me, I will need two to three months to fully recover. I am afraid that I am not be able to go to school for couples of weeks, and then I would not be able to catch up all my studies. Because of the pain, I even missed some of my midterms before the surgery. I would like to drop all the courses this semester and take enough courses in the summer to reach full-time student course load requirement for an academic year. I wanted to do this by myself last week, but unfortunately, my illness made me forgot this important thing. I would really appreciate it if you could understand my circumstance and accept my appeal. Thank you very much.
Yours faithfully,
Yi Zhang
