Petition Letter
To Whom It May Concern:
I am submitting this academic appeal for the fall 2016 term for the following courses:
to drop MICR360
and to obtain a credit standing for ANAT312, PHAR340, BHCM310 (preemptive appeal application for this course)
I was a victim of an excruciating circumstance during my second year here at Queens. It was something that was incredibly painful and unbearable to me. As a result of what had happened to me, I started seeing my counsellor, Dr. Arunima Khanna, at the Student Wellness Centre. My grades started to slip as a result of my very unpleasant and agonizing experience. Even though overall my grades were not as good as my first year, I still did fairly well and managed to go into my third year at Queens hoping to do better. I currently work in residence at Queens University. During the fall semester, I had an encounter with a student that was rather triggering to me (this was already reported and a ResRules Incident Report was filed). This is where my grades started to decline greatly and I struggled a lot to keep up with my school work. It was as if the feelings that I was trying to avoid were still haunting me. The incident that happened during the fall term was a constant reminder to me of when I was victimized during my second year. I went through an emotional distress during the fall term of 2016 and was working hard on how to be kind to myself. Unfortunately, I was not able to excel academically during that semester as much as I had hoped. My counsellor at the Student Wellness Centre, Dr. Arunima Khanna, can vouch to my experiences. I know that I am capable of doing much better under normal circumstances and this is why I believe that I should be granted an academic appeal.
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
Marianne Joseph.
Note: I recognize that I have not yet completed BCHM 310 as it is a full year course. However, I think that my performance in the fall term would impact my overall performance in the course. I would like to apply for appeal preemptively for BCHM 310. If I do well enough overall, I do not want to go ahead with the appeal for this course. However, if I do not, then, I would like to file an appeal for this course as well.
