Academic Plan
Academic Plan
1. Course of Study
I am aware that I will be placed on academic probation after return from being required to withdraw. Therefore, the primary focus of my study for the first year of return will be increasing my GPA to get though the academic probation. I am planning on continue my degree plan in BSc LISC, and retake courses I failed, especially prerequisite courses for my program is an effected way to raise GPA.
2. Full time versus Part Time Status
Take a lighter course load after come back from required to withdraw seems to be appropriate for me. As an international student, being full time status is an essential part in keeping my study permit valued. That means returning to study as part time student is not suitable for me. Considering I will be retaking some courses, I think taking 9 or 12 units per term would be realistic. Although I may need to carry a part-time job during this coming academic year because of my financial situation, I will make sure the job won¿¿t interfere with my study.
3. Strategies for Success
The most valuable lesson I learned from those unsuccessful years is that the key to my success is I need to be truthful to myself, have a clear understanding of my current condition/abilities, strengths, and limitations, thus set up realistic goals and manage my time accordingly. I have come to the peace with the reality that depression may have a long term effects on me. I will continue seeing health care professionals and counselors regularly to help maintain the mental health needed to be an effective student. The year I spend in St. Lawrence College was a great opportunity for me to develop and enhance various learning skills, including time management, effective reading, exam techniques, etc. I am sure those skills I acquired will be a great benefit to my future study. Also, I will actively seeking assistance from resources and support services on campus, such as Writing Center, the Learning Strategies and peer mentor program.
