Petition Letter
I am appealing for the requirement to withdraw waived for one year.
Because of my GPA is less than 1.60 and I was on the academic probation, I have received the letter that tells me to withdraw for one year. I want to appeal for it is because for the last whole year, I have met some psychological challenges.
Once I got the letter that told me I was on the academic probation, I felt very stressful and anxiety. I do know I have to work hard this year. I have tried to go to the lecture and make notes, and even recorded professors' speeches to review after class. But once I was doing my exam, I found that my memory was strange. Most thing I just reviewed before the exam I cannot remember. That disappointed me. It happened in the Fall term in 2016. And after the exam, I came back to my hometown, China, I wanted to adjust myself by staying with my parents, doing something that not make me thinking about my GPAs. After the holiday, I came back school.
But I did not know why, in next semester, in the second half of the term, I felt nerves and stressful and anxiety again. During this time, I found it was hard for me to fall asleep, and hard to wake up. I tried my best to do the works such as labs, presentations, quizzes for my courses, but maybe because of the insomnia, my memories got worse. Finally, I went to see the doctor. But it was too late, just two weeks before the exam. He had given me some medicine, but told me it was better if I can adjust by myself, and told me to try my best when I am doing the exam, and forgive the GPAs. But my grades still not good enough.
I guess maybe the reason I feel so stressful is the language problem when I am learning, and maybe I do not know some learning strategies to deal with it. So, in the future, for my psychological problem, because right now I am back to my hometown, I will talk to my parents, chat with them, and keep seeing doctors. And for my learning strategies, my plan is to go to the school's Student Academic Success Services, maybe take part in some workshops to help myself when I back to school.
Right now, in this summer term, I am doing a physical course. Since it has begun almost one month, I am doing well in the course up to now.
I believe I can adjust my self during this long summer period, and to behavior better in the next coming academic year.
