Academic Plan
In this upcoming school year, I plan on taking advantage of all the resources at Queen's to help me academically, psychologically, and emotionally throughout the year. Queen's has a tremendous Health and Wellness Staff that is composed of several psychiatrists, academic advisors, and social workers that specialize in helping students overcome situations similar to the one I faced in my first year. I plan on retaking SOCY 122, a course in which I received and Incomplete in, due to the fact that both major assessments of each semester were not handed in. Moreover, I have taken it upon myself the complete MATH 121, a course that is mandatory to complete in order to major in Economics, over the course of this summer. During one of my discussions with an academic advisor at the end of the 2016/2017 school year, I was told that I would be able to take this course online which would partially redeem my extremely poor performance throughout the year. I aspire to major in Economics in the upcoming school year, and have reviewed what is expected of me in order to major in this field of study. I plan on making frequent trips to the academic advisors of the Arts and Science Department throughout the upcoming school year, located in Dunning Hall, in order to set clear expectations for myself so that I can achieve my goal(s). I will be getting involved in more extra-curricular activities in order to keep myself busy and motivated, and will be sure to complete all assignments in a timely manner. I have grown to acknowledge the importance of a healthy mind and body throughout this year, which are essential to achieving academic success. If I ever feel as though I cannot complete an assignment due to extenuating circumstances or that I am not in a state of mind where I will be able to complete the work that is expected of me, I will be sure to have an open dialogue with my TA's, professors, student psychiatrist(s), or anyone that should know of my hindrances. I have high expectations for myself, and I am certain that my poor performance will not be repeated for the rest of my University career.
