Academic Plan
My academic plan is to stay in the field of Bachelor of Arts Honours (BAH) and remain undeclared for second year. I am aiming to major in Economics. Therefore, I will be retaking two courses that I took during my first year which is Economics 110 and Math 126. As I upgrade my marks by retaking these courses, I will be able to move on in my academics and choose my plan which will be Economics. In my first year, I took DEVS 100 which I found very interesting, so I have concluded that I will also take a secondary language course such as French and Spanish. The reason for taking one of those courses is because I will potentially choose to minor in Global Development. During the year I am planning to take courses related to health studies because ever since I was a child I loved physical education, therefore I will be taking Health 101 and 102. Along with in-class courses, I will enroll in online courses to catch up in credits. I am certain that I will be taking online summer school in the year of 2018 to benefit me in my academic success. I have reviewed and planned to enroll myself in the Statistics 263 online course. This will help me catch up on my credits and courses to pursue my major in Economics. Although I have gone through some trouble in my academic success in my first year of university, I have gained a large amount of knowledge about the university lifestyle which I believe will lead to me being successful in the future since I know what will be coming my way. I also learned about many resources Queens provide for academic help and support such as The Writing Centre, the Peer Academic Support Service (P.A.S.S), and the Bounce Back program. There are also many academic events that will benefit me for my exams I am willing to participate in such as Course Crams. One major thing I am grateful for is that one of my cousins will be attending Queens for Nursing as she has already accepted her offer. I honestly believe she will help me if I run into problems that relates to family. I also recently made friends towards the end of the year who will also be my housemates for the upcoming school year. They are very genuine and great people who I believe will be able to help me succeed academically as one of them is in business and two others are majoring in Economics. I will certainly be talking to academic advisors throughout the year to help guide me in the right pathway for academic success. Also, my mother and I both agreed for me to receive a tutor for math as I had trouble during first year. Another important thing I will be doing is participating in school clubs and also exercising daily as a stress reliever. I believe I have a great amount of knowledge on my academic plan and also gained knowledge on Queens academic support that will benefit me. I guarantee I will not repeat the mistakes I have done in first year as I have definitely learned from them. I understand the reasoning behind the situation I am currently in, which is why I will be working twice as hard throughout the year to avoid this type of situation.
