Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean (Studies),
I am appealing to drop PSYCH 100 (Summer 2017). I have just received a zero on my midterm as I had a previous job requirement and I was under the impression that it could have been rescheduled. I had originally missed the midterm due to an illness, so I was given a time a couple of days later that didn't work out with my schedule at work. This time fell on a day at work that was highlighted by my boss. I emailed my professor Kathie Bailey to ask for a different time and she informed me she couldn't do anything because CDS handles the times. I called my exam contact to see if it was possible to write later in the day or reschedule. She didn't have a problem with it and told me she would get back to me with some new details and costs. I then emailed Kathie and was informed that a grade of zero was given. Seeing as the midterm is weighted so heavily and that I'm already struggling to keep up with the material I don't see myself getting a grade that accurately describes my potential and effort. I am finding it difficult to balance academics and my work and family. I constantly am finding myself a lesson or two behind the pace. If this appeal is accepted I plan on retaking this course in the fall. During the school year I will have better time-management skills and work hard to ensure that I get a good mark in this course.
Regards,
Matthew
