Petition Letter
At the end of my first year of studies I began to struggle greatly and this affected my academic performance. When dealing with family members who struggle with mental illness, your own struggles are put on hold. I started to seek help from my doctor and was put on a couple medications to help with my anxieties which made it impossible to focus and my anxiety remained to be a debilitating issue. My spouse lost his income and was experiencing behavior that was a danger to my son who was three years old at the time. Family and children services even got involved and my spouse is not allowed to care for my son which has left me as the only caregiver. I had to miss a lot of school due to this and I even had to start taking my child to work. I then lost my job which added to the stress. My spouses behavior began to spiral out of control with many visits to the ER and even a call to 911. My son also struggles greatly which included a lot of doctors visit. He has just recently been diagnosed with Autism and we are just starting to get help and support for him. As well as my spouse, he just recently got a doctor who is helping him with his Asperger and personality disorder. I have just finally been able to seek help for myself and I feel all of the struggles were out of my control and I am seeking help through the school now and I am ready to be more open about my illness as well as my son's and spouse's. I have tried repeating several courses to due to failures or low marks but it did not seem to help since I was still struggling. I have entered all courses I want to be evaluated even if it exceeds the limit or if it is too late, I am not sure if there is another form for late appeals. Thank you for your time.
