Academic Plan
This summer is the first time I have gone to see a professional counsellor on a regular basis, and I recently began a mood stabilizing medication. I have decided alongside the support of my counsellor and family, to take a semester off from school to deal with my mental health for my own benefit and those around me. I have also decided to switch programs from Religious Studies to Literature, Languages and Cultures. Because of my poor performance in this past semester, I have been placed on academic probation and therefore cannot switch into the program I want, until I improve my grades. I have decided to enroll myself in the fall semester as when I spoke with the Literature, Languages and Cultures program director and explained my issue, she told me that if I take some courses and do well enough by her standard, she will then accept me into the program. My plan is to take a semester off starting after the fall semester exams. My new counsellor, Janet, from Queens Student Health has submitted a letter validating everything written in this letter. I had also attached a letter from my mother explaining and validating everything else in this letter (my uncle¿¿s obituary, a personal letter from my mother). I have found this past year to be an especially difficult time, but know that I can achieve my goals if given the time and opportunity. My education at Queens is very important to me, and I hope you will allow me the opportunity, and thank you for considering my appeal.
Sincerely,
Stephanie J Vaughan
