Petition Letter
Over the past 14 years of schooling the level of difficulty has become increasingly difficult. Whether it was barely squeaking by or meeting minimum requirements, it has no longer met the academic standards that post-secondary institutions hold us to. The world load has become increasingly difficult to deal with. With my inability to focus, along with my struggles with reading and numeracy comprehension it has crippled my academic life. These problems have always haunted me. Our family has never had the financial means for me to receive the proper diagnosis nor has it allowed me the opportunity to receive the proper treatment.
This past summer I was given the opportunity to volunteer at my local high school to assist in teaching summer school with the TDSB. From the recommendation letter the department head has written me, I can truly say this is something I am passionate about. It has finally allowed me to understand what I want to do in life. It has allowed me to be refocused, academically. It has showed me that I should not be taking courses that are too difficult for me to grasp, but instead I should be studying subjects that peak my interests.
I strongly believe that this suspension will do much more harm then it will do good. I come from a family that came from nothing; they have sacrificed more than their fair share to send me here. I understand that I have failed them. This suspension will put tremendous pressure on my family¿¿s financials. I would not be able to handle the mounting pressure for me to perform. I know I have to be the change I want to see. Please allow me this one last opportunity for me to prove that I belong at this institution. This opportunity will change my life.
