Petition Letter
To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Gabrielle Lambert; I am a third-year sociology student. This past year, my sister passed away very suddenly at the beginning of the winter semester. Unfortunately I had to return home and was unable to complete the semester. My plan this summer was to complete some of the courses I was unable to finish. I enrolled in Psychology 100 and struggled through the course. My academics are of the utmost importance to me as not only is sociology my passion but I hope to pursue my Masters in sociology after Queen¿¿s. Many of the deadlines fell close to or on anniversaries. For example, my final exam fell on my late sisters birthday. My extreme grief and depression made it almost impossible for me to complete everyday tasks much less perform to my fullest ability in a course. Fortunately, I passed the course. However, I believe this course should not be accounted for in my GPA (CR ¿¿ credit standing) as it does not reflect my academic abilities due to the extenuating circumstances. I can provide any necessary documentation if necessary. I can also provide a letter from my therapist; he can testify to my emotional state during the time I was taking this course.
