Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am appealing to drop the course ECON 280 past the deadline in the fall 2017 term. Over the past few months I have lost my Aunt (June 2nd), Grandmother (August 14th), and Uncle (October 30th). This has been an extremely emotional period of time for me, as I have never experienced any loss of this nature before, and it has all been very tough for me to deal with. I had hoped to be able to catch up on the work that I missed during the time leading up to the passing of my Uncle, however I have been struggling to move past everything that has happened over the last few months. During this time I had to reallocate the percentage from my midterm to my final exam, as the midterm date conflicted with my uncles funeral service. This left me with a final worth 75, and a pile of work to catch up on. I have not been able to get myself to a point where I feel anywhere close to comfortable writing an exam worth 75 with the amount of work I have actually been able to catch up on. If I am able to drop this class without a negative impact on my GPA, I will have more time to focus on the other classes I am taking this semester and keep myself in good academic standing. Going forward, I plan to retake the course next semester, as it is a course I am interested in, I just do not want it to negatively affect my academic performance due to what has gone on since the start of the school year. I have included obituaries from the passing of each of my family members as proof and to validate the timeline.
