Petition Letter
To whom it may concern;
I am writing this letter to appeal to have my failure of the Fundamentals of Effective Writing 120 course taken off my official transcript for Queen's University. I realize that to continue on in the Distance Studies program I need to have a grade point average higher than 1.6 and that I do not have this grade average; however, I do have extenuating circumstances.
On July 28, 2017, during the core of this writing course, my boyfriend had been arrested with some very serious accusations and potential charges. My boyfriend and his co-accused spent a total of three months in Quinte Detention Centre in Nappanee, Ontario under custody until the court began releasing the accused on bail. My boyfriend was released on October 23, 2017. The charges that he is facing are completely out of character for him and thus caused me to lose focus on school due to various court dates, hearings, trails, and various meetings with lawyers, at the time that extenuating situation happened.
Despite the difficulties I experienced during the summer term, I have worked very hard in the Anatomy and Physiology course that I am taking this fall term to show Queen's University that I am dedicated to my studies. I plan to continue to work to the best of my abilities and have a greater focus on school.
I want to express my sincere appreciation for every opportunity that Queen's University has given me. I almost hate to ask for this appeal seeing as good the university and staff have been to me during these past few months, but if I do not have this course removed from my transcript then I will not be able to continue on in the online life science degree program and thus get my degree. Please consider my request.
Sincerely,
Brittany Davies
