Petition Letter
Hello,
My name is Caitlin Poxon. I am writing a letter requesting to waive the 21-day or one term deadline. The reason is as follows:
In the academic year 2015-2016, I discovered I had a tumor in my spine roughly 3 weeks before exams. Upon discovering this, I contacted Queen's University letting them know of my situation, to which they allowed to me to pass some of my courses without the final exam or in the case of psyc100, I needed to write my exam in September, which was 5 months later. Therefore, I received my grade sometime after.
During the summer of 2016, we discovered that there was a complication regarding my spine and that my nerves had scarred together, resulting in severe chronic pain in my back and leg. In academic year 2016-2017, I was very much focused on managing my level of pain and doing my best to function and complete class with my disability. At the time, I was not focusing on how to appeal my grade in psyc100, because I was focusing more on whether I would be able to complete my second year at university.
This year I just became aware of the appeal process for grades from an email sent through the Undergrad Newsletter. Now that my pain in more manageable and I can balance my activities and my disability, I would like to appeal my grade. For this, I would need the 21-day and one term deadline to be waived.
Thank you for your time.
