Dear Queen¿¿s Associate Dean of Arts and Science,
I am appealing to drop GNDS 120 (Fall 2017).
I am appealing to credit stand SPAN 111 (Fall 2017).
During the first month of the 2017 Fall term, I started to experience feelings of sadness. At first, I dismissed this feeling because I thought it was not serious until it progressively became pertinent as the semester went on. This emotion was accompanied by feelings of demotivation, difficulties focusing on school, lots of stress, and complete isolation from my family and friends. I also noticed that my sleeping patterns were becoming irregular as I was barely getting enough sleep to function properly and my healthy eating habits diminished as I was not getting enough food to fuel myself. It was really hard for me to go to class or to get food because whenever I would leave my dorm room, there was a prevalent feeling of anxiety and fear. I realized that something was not right as I have always been passionate about my education yet I felt passionless the whole term. It took everything in me to get my school work completed; there was always a prevailing feeling of demotivation that was accompanied by the constant emotion of sadness. I was scared to go see a counsellor because I did not want anyone to know how I was feeling as I thought people would think I wasn't normal. I came to the conclusion that the constant feeling of sadness I was experiencing really impacted my overall well being, especially regarding my academic performance. I decided that it would be ideal for me to take a leave of absence from school to see a therapist in my hometown who could help me cope and manage these feelings so that I will be better able to handle them when I¿¿m ready to continue my studies at Queen¿¿s. Thank you for considering my appeal.
Sincerely,
Sabrina Zalfaquaruddin
