Petition Letter
This is an appeal to waive the 21 days appeals deadline. I had submitted an appeal to Queens University for transfer credit from University of Oshawa Institute of Technology (UOIT). This process was started by using my work email (imtiaz.ahmed@opg.com). This communication was between Queen's many employees like Susan Earle, Karen McBride, Gail MacAllister etc. and I through my work email. In fact the decision reached by the Office of the Associate Dean (Studies) was emailed to me using my work email via Haley Everson on May 20th, 2014.
I then applied for an appeal to this decision using my work email address and communicated with Gail MacAllister about nine different times since the start of the appeal in May to discussion as to the status of my appeal in September.
When I contacted Kathryn Morrissey at the suggestion of Gail MacAllister using my work email I found out that a request from Queen's (via Kathryn Morrissey) was sent to me using the Queen's email address for the first time, to resubmit my appeal to the Board of Studies. Since I rarely use the Queen's email and all of my previous correspondence was through my work email I did not see this request in a timely manner. No time during any of the correspondences was I directed to use the Queen's email account only.
After this discovery, I resubmitted the appeals to the Board of Studies and am submitting an appeal to waive the 21 days appeals deadline at your request. The extenuating circumstances is that we (Queen's and myself) had setup a pattern of communication through my work email and I expected further correspondence to me using my work email and not Queen's email. The change in communication pattern to suddenly using the queen¿¿s email instead of my work email create this circumstance that I could not foresee and thus missed resubmitting my appeal in a timely fashion. Now that I know I am checking my queen¿¿s email often to avoid further delays. Please grant me this waiver of 21 days appeals deadline.
