Petition Letter
The circumstances surrounding my illness were a build up as it started on 2018/03/23 when I went to the hospital with a fever and a sore throat. The doctor diagnosed the illness as strep throat and prescribed some antibiotics as well as recommended the use of ibuprofen and acetaminophen. After finishing my prescription, I felt better for the next week but then on 2018/04/05 I began to develop a fever and a sore throat that began to get progressively worse. After it reached a point where it was just as painful as before the use of antibiotics, I visited the hospital on 2018/04/08 and was diagnosed through blood work to have mononucleosis (mono). Over the next day my symptoms have gotten worse and I am unable to focus for extended periods of time and have had a lot of difficulty studying. After only a day I have already noticed that studying has become increasingly difficult due to a lack of energy and inability to retain the concepts of my studies. The doctor told me that my mono will get progressively worse to the point where it is possible that I may not be able to get out of bed and that there is no firm date to which I will be fully recovered physically and mentally. In short, mono has already started to affect my academic life by decreasing my attention span due to headaches, lack of energy, fevers, a slightly sore spleen and a sore throat and it will continue to have a greater impact on my ability to study when these symptoms become more severe.
