Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean of Studies,
I am appealing to drop RELS 212, Mythology of the Ancient Near East (Winter Semester, 2018) due to extenuating medical circumstances that are beyond my control.
As a result of a medication that I was prescribed, I have been experiencing severe side effects that have prevented me from completing the assignments for RELS 212. The prescription I have been taking has impaired my cognitive functioning and I have had difficulty processing written information and articulating my thoughts. The additional side effects of this prescription can be found detailed in the accompanying letter from my primary physician, Dr. Laura DiQuinzio.
I am currently focusing on safely going off this medication and processing the additional symptoms that come with withdrawal. My plan to ensure future academic success is to focus on my physical and mental health throughout the summer so I will be capable of continuing with my plans to return to my original undergraduate institution, Bishop¿¿s University.
