Academic Plan
Should my academic appeal be granted, my first step would be to obtain high grades in the two summer courses that I am currently registered in. By obtaining a grade of B or higher in the two subjects, I will be able to raise my GPA to a point higher than 1.60. Once I am no longer in academic probation, I would aim to register for the COCA specialization in the computing major, once the requirements are met. By choosing the path, I will be able to take both arts and CISC courses, which will allow me to take less CISC courses in one semester, by also taking FILM courses. This will alleviate some of the pressure of the CISC courses that I frequently struggle with, as well as boost my morale by varying the course content. As the arts are a field that I personally am interested in, this would also increase my motivation.
For the COCA specialization, I would take the FILM option within the plan. For this, one of the courses that I am currently registered for during the summer is FILM260. I will also register for COCA201, as well as retake PHIL153. Another courser that I would take is FILM110, which would span 2 semesters.
Of the CISC courses required for the COCA specialization, I would register to take CISC204, and CISC235 if my schedule does not conflict.
As one of my personal downfalls is the lack of seeking help from the school staff, this is the primary area I would strive to improve on. In the past, I would frequently seek help from my peer, when I could have gotten much more direct help by contacting the TA's, and the professors teaching the courses.
If I struggle with keeping up with the workload or the material taught in any of the courses, I will seek out help from academic advisors, and heed their advice, or seek tutors. If I still struggle, I will drop some courses until I am able to manage the workload, which may result in becoming a part-time student.
