Petition Letter
Good Evening,
I am writing to appeal the 21-day deadline to drop the Winter 2014 academic courses off of my official transcript. The deadline to drop the course was May 21st 2014 and grades were posted a few weeks before hand.
The first reason I was unable to appeal to drop the courses was due to an extenuating circumstance with PSYC 251, in which there was a grade deferral because of an academic incident. I was working with Professor Stanka Fitneva to try to alleviate the issue in order to get a passing grade. Unfortunately, there was nothing that could be done at that point and I received a failing grade. The last correspondence I have with Professor Stanka is on May 20th 2014.
On that same day I had to take me cat to the veterinarian, as he had been very sick. I was told that he had cancer and there was nothing that could be done at that point. I made an appointment for the next day to put him down as he was in a lot of pain. I have the veterinary records and bills if necessary.
On May 21st 2014 I went to the vet to have my cat put down. I returned home later in the morning to a phone call in which my family was told my cousin had taken his life. This was also an ongoing family situation, which caused poor academic choice and performance throughout the semester. This is the link to his obituary.

There were more extenuating circumstances with family, emotional issues and personal financial security which lead to my poor performance and my receiving a failing grade in the 2014 winter semester.
Please take this into consideration in waving the 21-day appeal deadline.
