Petition Letter
I am appealing to add CISC 101 to my courses because under the recommendation from Professor Linley and Karen Knight, they have advised me to swap CISC 121, which I have just dropped for either CISC 101 or 110. The reason that I am swapping is because when I first enrolled in CISC 121, I was told it was an introductory course, without much prior experience required. Being that I had some experience with coding, I believed that CISC 121 was the right difficulty for me, and the first two weeks were not much trouble for me, but recently I felt that the course was becoming increasingly difficult too quickly, thus I contacted Professor Linley, who advised that I defer back to either CISC 101 or 110. Karen Knight then referred me to the Arts and Science Offices in Dunning Hall, who then said I needed to file an appeal. I did some research on the two courses, and I found that CISC 110 is more geared towards the Arts as it is more animation based, and CISC 101 is more focused on strictly coding, which I was told would be more beneficial towards taking future CISC courses. I am actually looking towards transferring from my current science program to computing, therefore I feel that CISC 101 is more effective for me.
