Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I would like to appeal to add FILM445 to my class schedule, because I need one more 400 Level course to fulfill my graduation requirement. Here are the reasons for this appeal:
In June 2018, I consulted the degree plan to select courses for my last Fall and Winter term. According to the plan, IDIS410 was the only required course at 400 level, which was a 6-credit course.
After the completion of the IDIS410, I noticed the course was changed to a 3-credit course, but without the information that I need to take an additional 400 level course at DRAM, FILM, MUTH and MUSC to complete my graduation.
I applied summer graduation in the middle of December, 2018.
On the first day of Winter term 2019, I switched FILM445 to FILM305 due to the interests on the course topics. During this process, neither the degree coordinator nor the academic advisor informed me that an additional 400 level course was required for my graduation.
Until the last day to add course, January 18, 2019, I received an email from degree coordinator at night, indicating that I need one more 3-credit course from 400 level to fulfill the graduation requirement. Unfortunately, I was already asleep and only read the email next morning.
I emailed the degree coordinator and academic advisors at once on next morning to ask them if they can add me to the FILM445, and I dropped FILM305 meanwhile, so the system would allow them to add me to the FILM445. They advise me to make this appeal and meanwhile join the course FILM445.
At this moment, the staff from FILM department has already informed the professor of FILM445, and I am currently attending courses in FILM445.
I would appreciate if you can add me to FILM445 in the system to complete my graduation in this summer on time.
Sincerely,
Zhaowen Liu
