Petition Letter
I am appealing to drop GPHY 371: Glaciers in a warming world (Professor Laura Thompson) without financial penalty after the academic deadline.
On January 12th my grandfather, Antonio Diminno, passed away. Due to this, I returned to Toronto be with my family and attend his visitation and funeral on January 17 and 18 respectively. During this time I was supposed to be deciding which GPHY 371: Special Topics in Earth Systems Science I wanted to take, and dropping the one I chose not to. However, as a result of my grandfather passing away, I was unable to meet this deadline. When I realized that I had missed the deadline last Sunday (January 20th) I was unsure whether I should drop the course or wait until after I submitted the appeal, and decided today to drop it first.
I was told at the arts and sciences front desk that an obituary should be sufficient documentation, however as I only have an online obituary and I'm not sure if the way I entered it will work, so I have also included the link here.
