Petition Letter
A letter of support should have been received from Barb Lotan in December of last year.
I am appealing to drop four of my courses from this past fall semester (BIOL 300 - Ecology, BIOL 339 - Animal Physiology, BIOL369 - Sex and Evolution, and BIOL 355 - Limnology) without academic penalty despite not having dropped them before the appropriate deadline. In October of last year I began being heavily affected by the after affects of an experience of assault and subsequently was unable to attend class regularly, complete assignments on time (if at all), or generally manage my course load. This lasted until December of last year, and had me essentially bed-bound for most of the month of November. I did not attend class at all during the months of November and December. These symptoms were what kept me from writing the final exams in the four above-mentioned courses, and is also why this appeal is so late. In October, I sought support from Barb (Sexual Violence Prevention & Response Coordinator), as well as the councillor that she referred me to. Academically, I cut back my course load for this semester (initially to 4 courses, but have since further reduced it to 2), and opted to take only online courses. I am still currently being impacted to a degree by these symptoms, however have regained enough of a handle on my academics so complete the courses in which I am currently enrolled. Ideally, the four courses from last semester that are incomplete would be removed from my transcript.
