Petition Letter
My name is Junliang Dai, a first year in Bader International Study Centre, I currently holds a Bachelor of Science(Hons), I wish to appeal to drop ECON112.
On February 15th, I came to Paris for BISC¿¿s midterm trip, but on the last day of that trip, my friend Bao, got his passport and money stolen in Paris. I am sure you have already gotten his appeal letter as well by now, with all his money stolen along with all his bank cards, I have proposed to stay in Paris with him, we were robbed on the street few days later, this time they took his phone and some of my money as well. I stayed here with him to provide him a way of communication( my phone) with his families and friends back home, and because I still have a bank card, we used the card to receive financial supports from home. I could not leave him and go back to the UK even after the mid-term break and the class has restarted, because without me, He would have no way of receiving money at all, and no way to contact others. He has to get a travel document and then a replacement BRP visa in order to go back to the UK, and it took a surprisingly long process, he has to wait in Paris for almost 40 days to get both. But on March 14th, after waiting for more than three weeks with him, Bao managed to get a friend to come to Paris, and she would be able help him, and I went back to the UK on the same day.
We have talked with BISC for a great number of time on the phone, and they have agreed to grant me any possible extension after I make it back. This Economic course is something I wish to drop even at the start of this term, but I was unable to because I was in still in Paris at the time of the dropping deadline. Furthermore, even if the professor is willing to give me a later exam, he cannot grant any extension on the weekly exercises I missed, which are weighted 40 in total. Without it, it would be practically impossible for me to pass the course.
My friend Bao has strongly suggest me to take this path which is to appeal for a late drop of this class, and the deputy academic director in BISC, Dr. Anna Taylor agrees with my decision.
I sincerely hope you can understand this circumstance of helping my friend, and I am also more than happy to provide answer any question. You are also more than welcomed to seek to Bao and Dr. Anna Taylor to verify my situation.
Sincerely,
Junliang Dai
