Academic Plan
In order to ensure an academic success after my appeal to waive the requirement to withdraw from Queen's for one year is approved, I have made detailed future plans to approve my academic goals of gaining a degree of CHEM-M-BSH. First of all, I was intended to switch to a major in Chemistry and I am now having the strength for getting in and achieving good grades in this degree plan, which can be proved by my academic performance in 2019 Winter. Secondly, by the end of the following winter term, achieving a cumulative GPA of 2.0 with a GPA of 2.0 minimum for all the required second-year chemistry courses would allow me to be accepted into the program. To attain this goal, I am currently retaking two first-year courses in the summer term, and if my requirement to withdraw for one year is waived, I would repeat some of the second-year CHEM and the required first-year MATH courses that I attempted as well to ensure an in-depth mastery of the knowledge. Thirdly, in the year after returning to study, I would complete no more than 12.0 units per term which would not exceed my competence to afford the course load and take no part-time job. Last but not least, my mental health condition that affected my learning and exam performance has been resolved by the mental health therapy and the academic accommodation acquired from Student Wellness Services. Now I find myself comfortable with the social activities, so I would stay away from introversive study, open myself to weekly consultations with the professors/TAs, acquiring a tutor, join a study group, and consult SASS learning strategists for assistance and advice on exam mastery skills which is my specific weakness. All these events would be performed weekly to ensure timely detection and effective solution of the problems I have in the courses. To manage my mental health and avoid future problems in academics, I will maintain weekly mental health consultations with the SWS in when I returned to school in July. In the future, if I encounter suchlike difficulty again, I will face it positively and take active methods to deal with it, such as communicating with my parents and friends for help or consulting psychologist for professional suggestions and treatment. The clear academic plans I have made, I think, will help me to succeed in following studies.
