Dear Associate Dean of Studies.
I am writing to you to ask that my grade in ENIN 340 for Assignment 1 be adjusted from a C for the following reasons I outline below.
In the feedback by my professor, it stated, This is a nicely done entrepreneurial pitch. Not sure how it is intrapreneurial, since it's unclear from the start how the idea fits the mandate of the selected company you're pitching to. There is almost no mention of the existing organization, it's resources, etc.
Based on the course syllabus I believe my assignment is in the B range of grades. Below is what my professor lists as the definition of assignments meeting this criterion.
B range grades (70s) indicate good to the very good performance that meets all basic expectations and objectives. The learning outcomes have been achieved, and there is a clear and comprehensive understanding of the key course concepts and techniques. Submission exceeds expectations on at least one but likely two of the assignment components (e.g. research/analysis/design/self-reflection). The work may fall short on research integration, course content application, annotation, analysis, or development of ideas. The work may have some minor spelling or writing mechanic issues

In Module 1, my professor stated that Intrapreneurs are always looking for ways to make things better, to solve problems, to stay relevant and current and agile, and to meet user's needs, intrapreneurs become adept at using creative thinking, research and communication skills to discover opportunities, create value, and arrive at new and innovative solutions to emergent and persistent problems. My assignment meets this criterion of problem solving and creativity through the innovative solution presented. As such, I contest that my pitch was in fact intrapreneurial.
2. With regards to my idea not fitting the mandate of the selected company I was pitching to, I would like to note that this was not something that was clearly articulated as an expectation in the assignment outline. Based on the way the assignment outline was written, I was to create a pitch for an intrapreneurial innovation related to wellness (broadly defined) for an organization or company from any industry/field/discipline. I did exactly such by stating that my product was for a company called BCG and implicitly throughout the assignment tailored it for this company in the way that my innovation is best suited for a large corporation like them. I acknowledge that this component could have been more strongly developed but I believe it is unfair and wrong to assume a certain criterion be completed without clear instructions on how to do so. Grading shouldn't be evaluated on assumptions but rather on fulfilling the requirements and instructions the professor sets out.
3. I believe my assignment deserves a B range grade because the professor states that it is nicely done with reference to the design elements meaning it specifically exceeds the design component of the assignment expectation. I also conducted extensive research about the wellness innovation I created citing 15 sources that were pertinent to the product in the assignment with some of them being academic journals and As such a B range grade is when the Submission exceeds expectations on at least one but likely two of the assignment components.
4. In class feedback provided about areas of improvement for the assignment, many of the areas that were lacking she mentions, I actually fulfilled in my assignment. Especially with regards to the information design remarks, my assignment does not fall into this category of mediocre work as I put together an optimal, high-quality presentation.
5. Overall I believe that my professor did not accurately review my assignment adequately in depth especially given the fact that she marks close to 500 assignments for the students in the class within a week without the assistance of teaching assistants. This would mean that if she spent 10 minutes marking each assignment, it would take 5000 minutes (or 83.33 hours). Effectively if she is able to return assignments in such a quick turnaround this demonstrates that there is room for negligence and/or human error during the grading process because she completed marking all class assignments in a fraction of this time. Upon emailing about adjusting my grade she did not reassess my assignment and stated that my grade will still stand, further demonstrating her inability to spend ample time reviewing my work.
