Petition Letter
To the Associate Dean,
My name is Mary Grace Dela Fuente. I am writing this letter in hopes to drop my Fall Term courses (BIOL205, CHEM211, CHEM212, GNDS121, WRIT125) past the drop date.
The past years I have had at Queen¿¿s have been quite rough. I¿¿ve been battling with depression throughout my years here. I had previously taken some time off from school to relieve stress, and I enrolled this fall feeling confident that I would succeed in my academics. Unfortunately, this was not the case.
In November of last year I went through I really rough patch, and I was admitted to the ICU of the hospital for a period of time. Due to the situation, I have lost parts of my memory. Upon release, I went to survey my courses and found that I could not remember about a month and half¿¿s worth of classes. Despite my efforts to recall information, I could not remember anything. I felt that I would not be able to finish my courses, and have decided that it is best for me to drop and courses for the Fall Term. As I still do not feel up to par, I will not return for studies during the Winter Term.
Instead of going to school, I will take time for myself to fully and properly recover. I have appointments to go back to see doctors and counsellors and I will work hard so that I may get back into my studies as soon as possible.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my letter, and I hope you can understand my situation.
Sincerely,
Mary Grace Dela Fuente
