Petition Letter
To the Associate Dean of General Arts and Science,
I am appealing to drop SPAN 204 (Fall, 2014).
Over the past six months there has been a number of different extenuating circumstances, beyond my control, affecting my ability to perform academically. Since the summer there have been significant family troubles, and since late October (climaxing November 6th) I have been fighting to overcome difficult psychological struggles.
Both of the aforementioned troubles made it increasingly difficult for me to focus and stay on top of the workload at Queen¿¿s. In addition to SPAN 204 I dropped out of the other two courses I¿¿d been taking, after seeking and accepting the aid of health-care professionals and personal counselors.
Due to the severity of the mental health struggles I have been working to overcome, I am withdrawing from Queen¿¿s entirely and re-applying for the Fall 2015 term. Additionally, I¿¿m maintaining regular meetings with both my psychiatrist and pastoral counselor. Hopefully, working with the medication and other support systems I have in my life, by Fall 2015 I will be ready to return to Queen¿¿s University on a full-time basis.
Thank you for your consideration of my late withdrawal.
Regards,
Christina Dunn
