Petition Letter
Dear Dean Crow,¿¿Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to explain the circumstances I was facing. I am appealing to add PHSY 118 to my summer school courses after the academic deadline. This past winter exam season, I was faced with unfortunate events which led me to not being able to pass PHSY117. While deciding on which major I want to pursue in the next coming year, I was unsure of what courses I needed to graduate each possible major of my choice, alongside medical school¿¿s prerequisites. This left me uncertain about whether or not I need to drop or retake physics. Alongside this, I did not have all my grades at the time when I was calculating my GPA in order to know if I should retake physics. After finally being able to email one of the academic advisors, a day before the deadline to apply for summer school, I realized that my best option is to drop physics and retake it. I understand that I should have made such actions earlier, but I had those personal setbacks. I am aware that I did get the chance to apply to another summer school course (STAM200) as at the time I knew that I need this course regardless, so it did not affect my thought process. Alongside these issues, this pandemic has took a toll on my mental health as I¿¿m sure it has for many others, which led me into going back to my part time job in order to be happy and feel useful.
I believe that I would really need this opportunity to take PHYS118 as I just finished the course and the material is still fresh in my memory, and I really believe that this time I will be more aware of my studies. I would really appreciate it if I could get a second chance to study this course with truly the best physics professor I¿¿ve ever had.
¿¿I greatly appreciate you taking the time to read this document, I hope I am given a chance to apply to PHYS118. Thank you for considering this appeal.
Sincerely, Parmida Ramzey
