Content warning: Rape
I have endured severe clinical depression for the majority of my life. (I am registered with QSAS as of recently.) In early September 2018, before what was supposed to be the start of my 2nd year, I was raped in Montreal. I was 19 years old, I got a rape kit done, I even recorded the abuser trying to apologize to me the next day, and yet he faced no consequences, and even gained sympathy for pinning me as a liar. I was 19 years old at the time and this changed everything for me. The PTSD it had fostered gets reignited in full force come fall time, and this 2nd anniversary was particularly difficult considering I spent it alone, withering away. I thought I could take on the workload and keep myself busy, but I could not. I thought after September, even October, I would improve and catch up, unfortunately and unsurprisingly, I just spiralled further downwards. I am writing this in disappointment and I do apologize sincerely and thank you for reading this heavy stuff. These days are painful, and I am considering taking the next semester off to try to regroup. Please try to understand.
