Petition Letter

To Whom It May Concern:
I am writing this letter to be granted permission to add MUSC 289 to my course schedule for the winter 2015 semester. I realize that the add/drop deadline has passed. However, I just learned yesterday that I am in need of one more course to be able to graduate at the end of this school year with the rest of the Physical and Health Education and Kinesiology students.
Unfortunately, earlier this semester when I ran my own My Academics- Academic Requirements- View my Advisement Report I still had a few classes of interest in my Shopping Cart. What I was not aware of was the fact that the report takes into consideration all courses in the Shopping Cart and Planner. Seeing that my requirements were Satisfied with only being registered in four classes, I thought that my requirements were fulfilled and did not add a fifth course to my schedule. It has been brought to my attention (now, after the add/drop deadline) that I did in fact need a fifth course.
I am a dedicated, hardworking student who has been able to maintain close to a 3.5 GPA for the last three semesters. I believe that I should be given permission to add this class to my schedule so that I can complete my degree on time and graduate with the rest of my class. This mishap has given me more drive than before to do well in my classes and get caught up with MUSC 289.
I have been in contact with the professor of MUSC 289, Dr. Matthew Rogalsky, who has agreed to grant me permission to take his class. Dr. Stephanie Lind, the Chair of Undergraduate Studies at the School of Music, has also been informed and understands my situation. I have already reviewed the course syllabus and have been informed that I have not missed any of the course evaluations. The first evaluation is on February 12th. I have three friends who are in the class who have already agreed to help me get caught up with the notes and study for the first midterm. I strongly believe that I will catch up on course material before this date and will write the exam at the same time as the rest of the class.
I have already planned to attend class while this appeal is going through, so as not to miss any more of the classes. I hope that, with your consideration and approval, I will be able to add this course officially to my timetable and graduate along with the rest of my class.
