Academic Plan
Upon completing this field study, I will return to Queen¿¿s and complete my degree. I believe this experience will enhance my studies and make me a more well-rounded and informed student. I know that in tutorials and seminars I will be able to draw on my field experiences and make major contributions to group discussions, hopefully aiding other students. I also believe the knowledge gained on this field study will help me while studying other Queen¿¿s courses that I hope to take in the future such as DEVS 320 (Aids, Power and Poverty) and HIST 317 (Africa South of the Sahara).
Once I complete my degree at Queen's I plan to pursue either a Masters program in Cultural Studies or go to Law school. Being able to take part in this field study, I will have experience and invaluable knowledge to draw on in my future academic endeavours. As well, this field study provides me with the opportunity to potentially find an area I can focus on academically in the future. Currently, I am studying topics that range from various cultures, human rights, nutrition, education, and health care. Despite finding interest in all of these topics, I hope through going on this field study I will find my academic focus, allowing me to gain greater knowledge in a specific area. As I mentioned earlier, since my interest in Global Developments was sparked after travelling to Kenya for a month, I believe this opportunity will allow me to find my future academic path and will allow for my continued growth and ability to help those people who are in need.
