Academic Plan
My plan is to return to studies gradually, as I am wholly committed to recovering from this situation and returning to good academic standing. Throughout this situation I have been seeking medical treatment, and drawing on my support systems, and in the past few weeks I have seen some degree of improvement in my symptoms. With continued medical intervention and regular counselling, I believe that I can recover and return to my previous level of academic performance. My goal is to focus on recovering my mental health during the May-June term, during which time I will write my deferred exam and work to finish my incomplete assignments from ENGL 375. In June, if I feel that I am able, and if my doctor believes my condition has improved, then I may seek to enrol in a single course for the July-August term to regain some of the academic progress that I have lost this past year. I then intend to take a part-time course load of three or four courses in the Fall 2022 term while I focus on my continued recovery, and, if I am academically successful in the fall, to eventually return to full-time studies in Winter 2023.
I am committed to seeking ongoing counselling to support my recovery, and will implement any recommended medical interventions or habit/lifestyle changes that my physician or counsellor should suggest. I will reach out to SASS for academic support, and I will also aim to set up regular appointments with each of my professors/TAs in any future courses that I take. I will attend their office hours on a biweekly basis to discuss my ongoing progress, so that if I??m dealing with any mental health issues that are impacting my academic performance, we can make a plan to address them before they become a serious problem. I will also utilize my QSAS accommodations proactively to help support my continued academic success. I believe that this future plan is reasonable and realistic, and will enable me to recover from the challenges I??ve faced in the past year. I am also willing to make any modifications to my academic plan that are deemed necessary by a faculty advisor or by the associate dean, if my appeal is granted on a conditional basis.
