Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I am Mariam Farooq (20155569) and I am submitting an academic appeal for the extension of my CHEM 281 grade submission. My exam is currently scheduled for June, as I was unable to write it due to extenuating circumstances last semester. In Fall, we first had COVID-19 spread across campus and exams suddenly turned online. Due to work commitments (I worked as a first responder at the hospital that was short staffed) and moving back home, I could not sit for the suddenly changed exam date. Then, my family and I got COVID-19 early into the year, and was unable to write my exam again due to my serious symptoms. I really wanted to write the exam before June (and this can be proven via my emails to Dr. Carran) albeit there were unfortunately no available dates. Dr. Carran granted me an extension and said that I would have to write my exam in June. I was not aware about this appeal process (neither was my professor), and was only made aware recently. I would deeply appreciate it if you could grant me an extension and allow me to write my CHEM 281 exam in June. I have been a good student during my entire time at Queen's with good morals (as I was recently awarded The Fred Lamble Bartlett Memorial Award by School of Kinesiology and Health Studies), thus I take this process and my academics very seriously. Seeing the F on my transcript is a great source of stress for me, thus I would deeply appreciate it if you could tend to this issue.
Thank You for your hard work and time,
Mariam.
