I am appealing to remove classes DRAM 100A (Fall, 2020), GNDS 120 (Fall, 2020), and PSYC 100A (Fall, 2020) from my records. When arriving at Queens in September, I was struggling with mental health issues that were directly impacting my physical health and my studies. I attended Queens from September to November. I was unable to complete the necessary work for me to participate in my classes. While attending school, my mental health illness made it impossible for me to attend online classes, read any material, and complete my work. It was nearly impossible for me to get out of bed throughout all three months I was there. Near the end of November my mental health got a lot worse which resulted in something traumatic for me, making it clear that I would not be able to complete my studies. I knew that my mental health illness needed to be treated before attempting to complete schooling in the future. I made the decision to leave school in order to get help with my mental health and recover physically. After moving out of residence, at the beginning of December, I connected with health-care professionals regarding treatment for my mental health illnesses. I was on a waitlist until July 2021 to be admitted into a program for my mental health. I am still attending this program and will continue to for the next few years or until my treatment is over. In September of 2021 I started seeing a counselor. It will only be possible for me to do schooling in the future if significant developments are made with my mental health treatment. I plan to continue receiving treatment for all my mental health illnesses. I know that it will take a long time for me to recover but I will maintain regular meetings with my counselor and health-care professionals. I will assess how I am doing in the future to see if returning to my studies is an option. Until then, my only priority is to recover, and work on my mental health.
