Petition Letter
Dear Appeal Team,
My name is Christine Mao (student 20023452). I was hospitalized twice back in January and February of 2022, and was recently diagnosed with Bipolar and Manic Disorder. Throughout the fall term of 2021, I have been struggling with my lows and was severely depressed. I could not get out of bed, and was crying constantly due to emotional burdens I have to carry from an intergenerational trauma in my family having been impacted by Khmer Rouge, and my brother recently having got out of jail. It came out of no where as to the voices I heard in my head that brought me to strip outside naked in -14 degree winter back in January and thought that my friends, family and strangers were out to get me. I ended up not being able to complete my courses nor catch up being given the chance to because I kept talking to the voices in my head and was suicidal. This is also the reason why, I submitting such a late appeal. Only for the past two months, having been put on the right medication Abilify, the voices are slowly calming down and I was able to function. I would like to say that I had no control over the depressive and manic episode, along with the auditory hallucination that over came me. I would like to appeal the courses dropped.
