Petition Letter
I want to apply to Waive the 21-day or one-term deadline. After that, I will apply for CR in psyc335 positive psychology.
In the winter semester of 2021, I experienced an emotional breakdown due to jet lag, intense academic pressure, and a closed environment. I then applied for a gap year for the 2021-2022 school year and spent a year out of the school environment. I recently took summer classes in 2022 and want to graduate in 2023 spring, which is why I am applying for CR now.
For the winter semester of 2021, I am living with my grandparents in another small town far from home. Because my grandmother had pneumonia, we moved to this town for the winter which benefits her physical health. We lived in a neighborhood with many elderly people, and I couldn't find any people my age. The neighborhood was locked down from time to time because of the epidemic, and people were winded. My grandfather suffers from dementia, my grandmother has anxiety symptoms, sometimes has relationship delusions, and always thinks that my grandfather is cheating by talking to other older women. There are also frequent arguments in the family.
Because I applied to the BISC program in the winter of 2021, I was able to take very few professional courses and had to take a course in Positive Psychology and listen to lectures at 3 am. The teacher was very friendly and communicated with me carefully, but during the final period, the family arguments intensified. I felt like losing interest in anything and lay on the bed all day. I did not know what happen to me at that time. After several weeks I guess I was experiencing a depressive mood.
I couldn't finish my final paper. I communicated with the teacher about this later, and she gave me a new DDL, but I didn't see the news before the DDL.
I adjusted through the year and understood that I wanted to continue working in the field of psychology and wanted to apply to graduate school. I wish I could successfully appeal and have a higher GPA.
