Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean
Hello,
I am appealing to drop 4 classes from the last winter term, in which I was granted Academic Consideration for Extenuated Circumstances.
I suffered significant health issues this last WINTER TERM. I received ACADEMIC CONSIDERATION to assist me in completing those courses. Although, I was given extra time to pursue my learning and complete some of the missing requirements in those courses, my health problem was serious and debilitating to my studies and academic performance, making it impossible to complete my work during this extension.
My transcript shows a temporary IN final grade in 3 of my classes and a final grade of F in my fourth class.
Although, I have until September 15th to complete the requirements in the 3 courses standing at IN, I feel that I have missed too much learning to complete them successfully and with integrety. I am presently enrolled to re-take those 4 classes this year, to allow for proper learning and subsequently, successful completion of those courses. Therefore, I appeal to have these 4 unsatisfactory grades dropped from my transcript.
I have worked diligently the last 4 years and received good grades thus far. Unfortunately, the Covid-19 pandemic, its effects on school and mode of learning, as well as my serious health challenges, impeded tremendously on my academic performance last year.
I have been closely followed by my doctor and I am currently receiving medical treatment, with good results. I am excited to be back at Queen's to successfully complete my Computer Science degree this year. I am looking forward to hop over last term's bump in the road, and move forward with enthusiasm and positivity.
Please find attached my medical supporting document.
Sincerely,
Caleb Gough
