Petition Letter
Dear Associate Dean (Academic),
I am appealing the Faculty??s decision to add STAT 463 (Fall, 2022).
The issue other than being late than the official enrollment day is that adding this course exceeds the maximum workload of 18 units per term. It would be 3 units on top of those, so I kindly ask for your permission to add it as my 7th course in 2022 Fall.
I am late for the enrollment because I was not clear about the appealing purpose and process. Also it took some time to confirm support from my instructor.
I understand that heavier workload means bigger challenges and risky outcome, and my transcript is convincing enough to show that I am not capable. However, I have thought through my study plan before making this appeal. I have reflected on my failure in the past and am determined to strike for a chance. Among the 7 courses, 3 of them are re-taken, which are familiar contents to me and I will focus on improvement. I also have considered the time needed for processing. I audited STAT 463 since week one to keep on pace. After discussing with the instructor, it is challenging but possible to have good performances for the course. I am prepared and would appreciate to have an opportunity studying it this term. Also I am willing to take the consequence to drop with financial penalty if there is difficulty following up later on.
To do better in academic, I have made study strategy plans to encounter problems of time management, academic difficulties and so on. I will use more of school resources for support. If the appeal is approved, I will treasure the chance to plan well and try my best for academic success.
Thank you for your time and consideration
Best Regards,
Yuren Xia
