Petition Letter
Dear Appeals Committee,
For the summer term of 2022, I was undergoing court proceedings to negotiate relocation with my children for continued education after graduating from Queen's to Vancouver, BC. The settlement conference was held on August 5th, 2022 leading up to the final exam period. The judge disagreed with my position and this decision has derailed all of my future academic plans. I am now considering transferring to the BHSc four-year Health Sciences program at Queen's or seeing if I can be accepted into another online degree as attending in-person courses in Vancouver will not be possible. In light of the stress of the court date and the news of being unsuccessful, this has had a dramatic impact on my mental state during my final exams for Chemistry 114, Statistics 200, and Pharmacology 370 held during this timeframe. I would like to ask that the weighting of these finals be adjusted so that my GPA can reflect my ability without the strain of a contentious legal proceeding.
With kind regards,
Jennifer Louise Sims
