Petition Letter
To whom this may concern,
I am a second year student living in Toronto. My mother got diagnosed with a rare blood cancer in June. i completed the fall semester at Queens in Kingston knowing she was being admitted to the Princess Margret Hospital in December for a bone marrow transplant. I spent the Christmas holiday at home with every intention of returning to Queens for the winter semester. However, on January 1st there was a major complication with the transplant and I was told my mother had hours left to live. Due to this devastating news, last minute I decided with my family it was in my best interest to stay in Toronto for the winter semester. Luckily, my mother came out of the bad state and the complication was solved, so I decided to enrol in 2 online courses (through queens - PHAR 100 being one of them) in order to keep on top of my studies, without falling too far behind. Everything was going well and I was enjoying the courses, until late February things got very fatal and severe with my mothers condition. I notified my professors about the situation and they were extremely understanding, however, I had every intention to continue with my courses.
Unfortunately, on March 2nd my mother passed away and I fell extremely behind in my courses and I am not in the right mindset to complete this course. I had no concept of time or the ability to think straight, resulting in school falling as a lower priority at the time. Now that I am in a bit of a better mindset, I am asking if I could please drop the course PHAR 100 as i fell too behind to make up for what I have not completed.
Thank you for your understanding.
