Petition Letter
Regards,
My name is Geeti Khandelwal, and this letter is with respect to my wish to withdraw from the ANAT100 course for this semester. I am a first-year student hoping to complete my BSCH in BioPsych. Unfortunately, I have gotten ill this semester with a recurring bacterial throat infection. In my other courses, which are all in person, I was able to catch up on my assignments and studies each time as I was able to use the on-campus resources as well as receive support from TAs and peers. However, when it came to ANAT 100, I was unable to stay on top of the coursework due to the time missed while being sick. This has caused me to perform very badly in a course that I am genuinely interested in. I wish to retake this course in the summer with better health and the ability to focus on the online course to ensure I am staying on top of it. I found that each time I would get sick, I'd miss the time I would otherwise use to review the work, and since it's a very self-led course, it was extremely difficult to hold myself accountable. I am now left with an underwhelming experience in the course, which is very upsetting because I genuinely love the class. I have all the required documentation to prove my illness over the past couple of months, including a doctor's note, prescription medication (dated), as well as a recording of the state of my voice while I was sick. I want it to be clear that this is my absolute last resort to be able to gain the benefits of the class. I have already sent in multiple academic consideration requests, which have gone through, but at this point, I no longer feel as if I am gaining from the class since I have fallen so behind. I would greatly appreciate the chance to withdraw from this course temporarily and be able to take it in the summer.
Thank you so much for your consideration,
Geeti
