Petition Letter
To whom it may concern,
I took this course as one of the last few credits needed for completing my degree. Initially, I thought I could manage through this course. However, my mental health was experiencing an expected decline that triggered some of my other issues by end of October.
As of November, it became extremely difficult for me to balance the workload for four courses and basic functioning. I am quite behind on the works for GPHY 105 and struggling to complete them. On top of that, since it was a big lecture with a lot of people attending, I found it extremely uncomfortable and experienced high-intensity levels of anxiety whenever I attend the lecture. Therefore, I had to miss out on many lectures which are extremely bad for not only the upcoming tests and assignments (explained and instructed during the lecture).
I did not forsake that I would be struggling on the basic functioning level with mental health as of November. Thus I did not drop the course before the deadline. I discussed this with my counsellor, and academic advisor, as well as my nurse practitioner. I am currently waiting for my scheduled QSAS appointment to discuss about future accommodations.
It was suggested to me by both my academic advisor Kerri Andrews as well as my counsellor Emily Blacker to take it easy on school works and not stress myself out. As part of my practice in reducing the frequency of crises. With less workload and one less lecture to attend in person, I could take time to work on other courses and hopefully get a better grade out of them. Also, without having to be in person with over 60 people sitting around me 3 times a week for an hour each, I could also take time to recover from my health and reduce the level of anxiety I was experiencing.
It would be greatly appreciated if you can pass this petition and let me drop this course (GPHY 105).
Thank you
Sincerely,
Rita Yang
